A successor for MailScanner front-ends

Many cPanel servers run MailScanner, but the old cPanel front-ends are no longer maintained. MailGuard is a new, independently written plugin for WHM and cPanel that takes over that role without using code from the old tools.

It detects the MailScanner, Exim and ClamAV setup automatically, shows diagnostics for queues and spool, and offers per-account and per-domain spam settings, whitelist/blacklist and a daily quarantine digest.

Safety first, because email is critical

MailGuard does not rewrite the Exim configuration automatically. Per-domain rules are staged in a separate folder first and only activated once tested. Customers do not release quarantined mail themselves: they send a request that the admin approves or denies.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need MailScanner already installed?

Not necessarily. If present, it is detected automatically. On a clean cPanel server there is an installer with SHA-256 verification.

Can I migrate settings from the old front-end?

MailGuard reads existing settings and prepares a migration plan without touching the old installation.

Do my customers see anything?

Yes, there is a cPanel page where they see their quarantine and adjust spam settings for their domains.
